Back by popular demand, a slightly reduced version of the Printculture gang liveblogged the Oscars last night. We're pretty sure no one else is covering these — they're the awards given to people for the movies, you know — so get your news, snark, and fashion commentary right here.
Back by popular demand, the printculture team put aside their differences and liveblogged together for the first time since the 2006 midter.m elections. The word of the night this Oscars was “diversity,” and printculture tried to keep up--this year we assembled a team of national, international, and semi-intoxicated bloggers. And there were a few friends following along as well. Check it out--it begins here. (Or to read it in rever...
Folks, many of you have been waiting a year for a repeat of our fantastic Oscars liveblog, whose four or five readers last year voted it the most successful Printculture liveblog ever. Well, the Oscars are back, and so are we: we'll be liveblogging (at least one of us internationally!) beginning around 7:30pm Eastern, bringing you all the snark, fashion advice, and profound cultural judgment you've come to expect from the Printculture gang. Update: Liveblogging's started!! Occasional updates now, frequent ones after 7pm Eastern. H Saussy and I have committed to posting until the last returns are in, or we fall asleep, whichever comes sooner, and the rest of the Printculture crew will be unable to resist joining in, I'm sure, when they see how much fun we're having.
We’re still cleaning up after the glamorous printculture after-Oscar party, and really, we must have said a lot of what needed said about the event last night. The early response to the winners and losers last night is starting to trickle in, a fair amount of it treating the Oscars as some sort of referendum on American attitudes toward homosexuality. One Reuters story, for instance, runs on the Yahoo! Oscars page with the headline: “The Post...
Well, that was a hell of a thing. In case you missed it, the intrepid Printculture-alers were the big winners on Oscar night. We put together over 100 posts over five hours, most of them scintillating and insightful gems of the type that you couldn't ever get from the kind of people who actually saw any of these movies. You can start from the very beginning of the conversation, or you can scroll backwards from the end--in a tribute to Memento...
